SUPPLIES:
Soft branch or vine approximately 24 in. long (a hoop can be substituted)
Colorful yarn (you can often find leftover yarn at thrift stores)
Scissors
Cardboard scrap
Rubberband

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut soft stick and bend the ends together until they meet to make the hoop. They should not crack or break.
Connect ends with rubberband.
Wind a 20 ft. length of yarn around the small piece of cardboard scrap.
Tie the end of the yarn around the ends of the stick and wind around until the rubberband is completely covered.
Set the stick down. From the outside of the loop, run the yarn under the stick to the inside of the hoop. Make a 1/2 circle inside the hoop, go back over the stick to the outside of the hoop, then finally run the yarn back under the stick and pull, loosely.

Repeat this: make a 1/2 circle inside, go over the stick, under the stick, and through the loop. Continue until you have small, loose loops all the way around the stick.
Then begin a second row, by simply running the yarn through each loop, pulling lightly and evenly.

This continues until the second row is complete, then a third and fourth and fifth. Straighten and pull to even out the rows along the way. When there is small circle in the middle, tie a good knot and trim excess yarn. Use yarn to tie on beads and feathers.
Place above the head of your bed to catch good dreams and keep bad dreams away.

SUPPLIES:
1 paper towel tube
2 5x5 inch pieces of wax paper
1 piece of plastic (like from a sheet protector) 4 1/3 inches wide, as long as the paper towel tube
1 piece of dark construction paper 4 1/3 inches wide, as long as the paper towel tube
Tape (or rubberband)
A few spangles or some course glitter
1 small piece of pipe cleaner
1 piece of the Sunday comics
Various decorations, pipe cleaners, eyes, feathers

Instructions:

Place 1 piece of wax around the end of the tube. Secure it with tape or a rubberband.
Make a circle the same size around as the tube with the pipe cleaner.
Place the spangles or pieces of glitter in the middle of the other piece of wax paper and put the round pipe cleaner around them.

Carefully put the wax papered end of the tube over the pipe cleaner, spangles and wax
paper and pull the edges of the wax paper up around the tube. Secure the wax paper with tape or a rubberband.
To fold the long piece of plastic and the construction
paper to fit inside the tube, hold the plastic in landscape position, measure and fold in 1 1/3 inch sections (there will be three) and you’ll have 1/3 inch left over. Crease the folds well, then unfold to make a triangle. Tape the extra 1/3 inch piece to secure. Fold the same way with the construction paper and put around the plastic, then tape together. Insert into the paper towel tube.

Cover the outside of the tube with
the comics and decorate as you like, with pipe cleaners, feathers, string, yarn, etc.
The Kaleidoscope
should be pointed toward a light source when you look through it but don’t look directly at the sun. Turn it slowly to see the patterns and colors that are created as it spins.

Supplies:
1 medium sized container with lid like oatmeal, raisin or grits (Or use a drink mix container or nut can. Use a cereal box & make a rectangular pig)
1 1/2 sheets pink construction paper (or other paper)
1 small sheet pink craft foam (or construction paper)
1/2 chenille stem (pipe cleaner) (or a curled piece of paper)
Squiggly eyes (Or draw the eyes with marker)
1 black marker
Scissors
Glue

INSTRUCTIONS:
Remove lid. Cover bottom of container with paper, leaving a little space at the top so there’s room to put the lid back on. Trim the excess from the bottom. Cover lid of container with paper. Ask for help to cut long hole in lid large enough to fit a quarter through if you want to put the money in at the top. You can put a hole at the mouth instead so the piggy eats the money.

Attach squiggly eyes or draw eyes.
Cut an oval out of foam* for the snout. Add nostrils with marker. Glue snout just below eyes.
Cut small ears out of foam* and glue to the sides, half way above the top of the container.
Draw mouth or cut money hole, if desired.
*Remember: Construction
paper can be substituted for foam on snout and ears.

Tightly curl 1/2 a chenille stem around a pencil, remove from pencil, stretch it out a little and straighten about 1/2 inch of one end. Poke a tiny hole at the bottom back of the pig and push the straight end of the stem inside the container about 1/2 inch. Tape inside to secure, if needed. (Or curl a strip of paper around a pencil, stretch the curl out slightly and tape the end to the backside of the pig.)
Place lid back on top of container.

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went...
"Wee wee wee" all the way home...

If you feed this little piggy,
You’ll have money in the bank.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

SUPPLIES:

Large cereal box, pattern pieces, scissors, tissue paper, the more colorful the better, 2 water or soda bottle tops. Several poms, cotton balls, packing peanuts and/or crumpled tissue paper.

Instructions:

1. Cut out pattern pieces.
2. Cut away sides and top of cereal box, leaving the bottom.
3. Fold box, allowing inside of front and back to meet. Fold the bottom in half so the front and back are touching completely.
4. Trace croc head on front and back. Be sure to make them even. Cut out head leaving bottom edge connected.
5. On the front and back, right next to the bottom edge, tape a one inch wide strip of discarded portion of cereal box, long enough to hold thumb on the back (bottom neck) and four fingers on the front (top of head, behind eyes)
6. Cover the inside with red tissue paper for the inside of the mouth. To do this, lay the tissue paper down on the inside, lightly gluing or taping and then trim the excess. Cover the outside in green tissue, leaving the hand strips open toward bottom of box (neck) to put hand in; then trim paper. Add a piece of tissue above the face, at the top of the neck, to cover your hand. You can use discarded, rumpled, tissue from a gift. To make it more fun you can use other colors or patterns like polka-dots or stripes.

7. Cut out the eyelash pattern and trace onto tissue paper. Glue bottle top to face, glue poms inside bottle top. Glue eyelashes around bottle top. Glue paper scraps on face. Glue poms for nose. If you don’t have poms use cotton balls or crumpled tissue paper.
8. Use a discarded piece of the cereal box to cut a tongue, cover with tissue and draw a center line and dots, and tape to inside of mouth.
9. Glue packing peanuts, cotton balls or poms to inside of mouth for teeth.

Put your hand inside slots at the back of the neck, drape the extra tissue over your arm, then open and close the croc’s mouth to make this puppet snap.

That’s one scary croc!
